Winnipeg Scrap Metal FAQ
Quick answers for Manitoba residents and businesses.
Is pickup really free?
Free pick up is available for qualifying loads — bulk scrap, multiple appliances, vehicles, commercial quantities, or high-value non-ferrous metals. Smaller pickups (e.g. a single appliance) may have a pickup fee, or you can arrange a drop-off. We always quote upfront.
What areas do you cover?
All of Winnipeg plus Brandon, Steinbach, Portage la Prairie, Selkirk, and communities across Manitoba. If you're not sure, just submit a request.
Is there a minimum amount?
No hard minimum, but free pickup is for qualifying loads. Larger volumes, vehicles, and non-ferrous metals like copper are more likely to qualify. For smaller amounts, a pickup fee may apply or you can drop off directly.
Do you enter homes?
No — we do not enter private homes. All items must be placed outside, in a garage, or in an otherwise accessible area before our crew arrives.
How is pricing determined?
We pay based on current LME and COMEX commodity market prices — the same rates that drive global scrap markets. No made-up numbers.
How do I get paid?
Interac e-Transfer — usually right at pickup or same day. Fast, traceable, and directly into your bank account.
Will I get more for non-ferrous metals?
Yes. Copper, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel carry significantly higher prices than steel/iron. We sort everything on-site and pay accordingly.
How soon can you pick up?
For Winnipeg addresses, usually next business day. Rural Manitoba typically within 2-3 business days depending on location.
Do I need to be home?
Ideally yes, for payment. But if your scrap is accessible and you've confirmed details, we can arrange a no-contact pickup with e-Transfer sent after collection.
Do I need a title for a scrap vehicle?
Yes — title or Transfer on Death (TOD) is required per the Manitoba Scrap Metal Act. We must verify legal ownership before picking up any vehicle. Catalytic converter purchases also require valid documentation per Manitoba regulations.
